Bonded and seamless bras: specify the construction behind the label

Define the decision

For a sourcing team, the word seamless is not a complete construction specification. Ask which garment areas are knitted without seams, which edges are bonded, and where sewing remains. JEMIS's presentation lists seamless and bonding as separate technologies on slide 10. That distinction is useful when developing a product brief: a smooth external appearance does not explain how a joint is formed or how it should be evaluated. Request a construction map that identifies each joint and its intended function before comparing quotations.

What to review

Review the actual combination of face fabric, lining, adhesive system and any reinforcement proposed for the sample. Examine edge alignment, visible adhesive, local stiffness, curling and separation at junctions. Define how appearance will be observed at rest and under agreed extension, rather than stretching samples differently in each meeting. Ask the factory to retain the relevant process record for the approved material combination. This is a request for project evidence, not a claim that one temperature or pressure setting works for every fabric or adhesive.

Turn the review into an approval

A useful buyer handover contains the construction map, a versioned material list, reference photographs, an approved sample and the agreed evaluation sequence. Decide which areas will be examined after washing and conditioning, and document the care procedure and comparison method. Do not publish a specific wash-life claim before obtaining suitable test evidence. If a material changes, reassess the bond rather than treating the replacement as interchangeable. These steps make supplier discussions more precise and connect the visual promise of a smooth bra with observable approval criteria.
